Event Support (flexible, as-needed) Help with Third Thursday ArtWalk setup, cleanup, wayfinding, or welcome duties. Great for people who want to contribute without a long-term commitment.
Time: 2-4 hours per event, once a month or as available
Next opportunity: March Third Thursday (March 19th)
Project Teams (ongoing commitment through project completion) Join a working group focused on one of our 2026 initiatives:
ArtWalk Team: Help plan themes, coordinate artists, enhance visitor experience
Mural Apprenticeship Team: Support our youth arts program connecting high schoolers with professional muralists
Wayfinding Team: Guide our signs and district identity project
Business Support Team: Help plan workshops and quarterly mixers for local businesses
Time: 4-8 hours per month, typically 6-9 month commitment
Serve on our Board of Directors
We're seating our first-ever Board of Directors in 2026—the people who will guide Hillyard Creative District's next chapter. This is a chance to help shape a community institution from the ground up.
What the Board Does:
Provides governance and strategic oversight (not day-to-day operations)
Ensures the organization serves our whole community
Connects the district to resources, relationships, and opportunities
Stewards public trust and financial sustainability
What We're Looking For: We want a board that reflects Hillyard and our creative community—business owners and renters, longtime residents and newcomers, artists and entrepreneurs, young people and elders. A commitment to our community matters most.
The Commitment:
Monthly board meetings (2 hours, evenings)
Committee participation (4-6 hours/month)
Attendance at community events (as available)
Total: approximately 10-15 hours per month
